This past weekend was our much anticipated Civil War reenactment finale - the final one of our reenacting season. It also happens to be the biggest event and our favorite. It fully lived up to all it's potential and left me already anticipating next season's events!
Please note that ALL photo credits go to my mom; I didn't take a single photo the whole weekend. :)
You know I love everything about this... I want to be IN IT!
ReplyDeleteYou totally could, girl. ;)
DeleteLooks like so much fun! And these pictures are fantastic. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Natasha! My mom is a much better photographer than I am, so I find myself more and more defaulting to just letting her take the photos when we're both at an occasion or event. ;)
DeleteOh my goodness! How fun!! I looooove the dresses!!! This is all so excellent! It's like going back in time!
ReplyDelete"Going back in time."
DeleteIn many ways, that's exactly what it is! :)
That was a truly spectacular weekend! Thanks for the invite! Great pictures too! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jeremy, and glad you were able to come! All photo credits go to my mom. :D
DeleteThis is my first time to stop by this blog of yours and I'm so glad I did! It's truly delightful; I'll be coming again. The reenactment looks like amazing fun! I've never been involved in one, but I've attended a couple of them. The pictures of this one look very real and makes me feel I was there! :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a blessed and delightful day!
Melinda, I'm so glad that you stopped by today! It blessed my day. :)
DeleteReenactments are amazingly fun, just as you say! Being an actual part of one is truly an experience and through our years of reenacting, I have to say that I have a whole new passion for history, specifically the 1860's/Civil War era. The fashion of the times is my favorite. :D
WOW!!!1
ReplyDeleteYup! :)
DeleteI LOVE stuff like this. My parents joined in a few when I was little, I really only remember being at one. But, they are so much fun. And these pictures are so great!
ReplyDeleteThat one of you and your sister (I'm assuming) and then the one of her alone. Those are gorgeous and you both look like you are straight from that time. :) And was that one of you and your siblings?? Everyone looks so great! I just love the authentic feel of reenactments. :)
Thanks, Jess!! And I'm glad to hear that we look "straight from that time," which is exactly our goal! Yes, the girl in the light green dress is my sister Karis and the shot with her and I with three guys is of me and my siblings, minus the two who are married (and consequently, do not reenact) and Katheryn, who is out of town.
DeleteAwesome! Your mum is a brilliant photographer!
ReplyDeleteThank you, she is!
DeletePlease give my praise and admiration to your mother in regards to her work here! Favorites were the first one, the portraits of you and your sister (gawghess ladies, the both of you!) and the one of the smoke/fog with palm trees in the background; a simply beautiful juxtaposition!
ReplyDeleteI shall pass on the "praise and admiration" to her! I wish you could come to one, Brea, and be our official unit photographer! :D
DeleteLOVE this!!! Your mom did an amazing job with the pictures!! I love the one of you with the camera on the tripod...so great! I've given up trying to hide my camera while being all dressed in my Civil War garb. I'm a photographer who NEEDS the camera out at all times...=)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely no shame in forsaking being period correct in favor of photographing the memories. :D
DeleteLooks like I missed a great weekend...and of course you came to the one event I didn't go to! lol Oh well...missions work, even as close as Arizona, doesn't allow for a lot of free time/finances to get to/from CA... Hope all is well with you - I try to follow you via your blog whenever I can to keep tabs :)
