That’s exactly how I feel about our 2nd Annual Harvest Barn dance that was held behind our barn on Friday night. It was beautiful – hay bales, corn stalks, and white lights galore. It was such a happy and gorgeous night and I’m gonna say it…I think my brother Scott and I nailed the waltz. :D
It’s still such a marvel to me that our family actually put
this together, along with our long-time friends next door. I mean, we’re a
quiet family, not one given to mass entertaining and so to not only host a barn
dance, but to host one for the third time…well, that’s a big deal for us.
So, here's just a few photos that I took as the night was beginning. Wish there were more!
{ by the way, the clothespin ideas was an original idea - not one I found on Pinterest. Just sayin'. ;) }
OH my sweet goodness. this looks absolutely beautiful and fun!!

ReplyDeleteI'm very thankful for friends who introduced me to line/old English dancing - it's soo much fun!
Deletestunning!
ReplyDeleteI want to be present at that party!
You're always welcome at the next one! :)
DeleteClothespin idea = genius!! Looks so amazing! What a fun party.
ReplyDeleteThanks!! I was pretty proud of myself for thinking of it all by myself! :D
DeleteWhat a lovely, welcoming atmosphere! It must have been a delightful party. :-) Autumn is such a pretty time of year to do fun things like barn dances and such!
ReplyDeleteIt was a perfect harvest night, too! Definitely a great kick-off for the holidays!
DeleteGreat pictures and blog post! I always enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI'll count on your presence at the next one and I expect to see some serious box-steps waltz moves out of you. ;)
DeleteOMW!!! So cool!
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely in the extreme! :)
DeleteOh, Kellie-with-an-ie, I adore it! What beautiful decor, and just the thought of dancing there makes me so happy. And totally stealing the clothespin idea sometime;D
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking of you, though so busy I've not been blogging much lately. Sending hugs and prayers your way!

Steal away, girl! We had a cattle panel just behind the drink area (cordoning off a ant-hill infested area) and so it was PERFECT for just clipping your cup to the panel - no waste of cups plus there were no cups cluttering up the area or blowing away in the breeze!
DeleteOh, and it's been busy/uninspired around here, too! :\
DeleteWow, this looks fantastic! Such great pictures, too. I'm totally hopping a plane and coming to the next one! You'll have to teach me how to waltz, though :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to teach you how to waltz, Julie! It's so much fun and actually it's not that hard! It takes very little work to make yourself look like a pro! :D
DeleteSometimes you just need to put the camera down and enter fully into the life moment happening at the time. I'm learning this for myself right now. Buuut....thank you for sharing the beautiful ones that you did happen to capture because they are SO PRETTY. Full of light and warmth and the very essence of what an Autumn eve should be. Lovelovelove. And way to go with the clothespin idea! :)
ReplyDeleteSo true, so true!
DeleteCome to the next on, k?
I am so ready to come to next year's dance! Seriously, all of those lights are beautiful and having the dance at your barn? Sounds like a lovely time indeed. :)
ReplyDeletep.s. I am loving that cup + clothesline idea! It's genius, if you ask me!
PLEASE come!!! I'd DIE of excitement if you did!! :)
DeleteWhen's the next one??? :D I suppose Christmas would be too cold. :/
ReplyDeleteI have two girl friends who would like to come, thus why I ask.
DeleteI think we're thinking of very end of May - when it's warmer out and before Scott & Karis leave for the summer. We're thinking old-fashioned Americana as our theme. :D
DeleteSounds good! :D
DeleteAhhhh this is AWESOME!! It looks like so much fun!! And I'm loving that clothespin idea!
ReplyDeletegreat pictures! Looks like a blast! Wish we had more folks out my way (middle of nowhere SE Arizona) nearby so we could do something like that... I miss reenacting, the dances etc - hope all's well!
