Monday | Adventures in the Big City

Saturday found me and four of my friends leaving our small town behind and heading to our "local" Big City. We rode the train in and spent the rest of the day walking around the City, stopping to take photos, see different touristy places, eat good food, and poke around in old museums and such.

It was lovely.

Regina and Colleen (sisters) waiting for the train.

Our reflection in the train window at it came roaring into the station.

Angie.

Colleen. How you should know by now is also my roomie.

The Big City.

Check out the purple bracelet eight from the top - that little street booth actually had my name spelled correctly as an option!

Sam.

The four women of the party.

Glad they put that sign there. Who knows, I might have tried to climb down the man-hole...

Waiting to hop on some cable cars to take us back to the train station.

Turning the cable car.

Riding the outside of the cable car. Life on the edge.

Waiting for our train. Exhausted.

And of course, any good day trip ends with dinner. We were exhausted, sore from all the walking and ready to get home to the quiet and relaxation of home.

Because even though time spent in the Big City is lovely, at the end of the day, I'm really just a small town girl.

P.S. I know this is a lot of pictures...but just think of all the ones that I didn't post and be thankful. :)

    1. We did! In an exhausting kind of way. Which is usually the best way. ;)

  3. Ooooh I love this post! Some of the places you went look very familiar! And yes, I smiled when I saw the Ghirardelli gift bag. Love that place. =)

    1. I can see why they'd look familiar, Emily. ;) It was super fun day and I really should have bought some chocolate myself, instead of mooching off everybody else. Because now I have none. ;)

  4. Beautiful, beautiful pictures. I will most likely be looking through them more in the next couple days. Right now the sailboat one is one of my favorites. And you found something with you name spelled right? That's amazing! Loved the gorgeous post. You're such a good photographer! Can your next adventure be here? Please? :)

    1. Thanks, Brea! You're genuine compliments on my photography is VERY encouraging, as it's from one photographer to another. Yes, I was so excited when I saw that sailboat launching out, I LOVE the docks & wharfs scene!

And I'd LOVE for my next adventure to be out yours-a-way! But wow...with airline tickets getting increasingly more painful to purchase, I fear that my cross country trips will be much more limited. :(

  5. Great pictures and post, Kellie! What fun you all had - or that's what these suggest. :)

I'd be exhausted too by the end of the day. All that walking?! Good golly - don't envy you that.

    1. It WAS great fun, Rissi, AND very exhausting, but it was all worth it. It doesn't feel that long when you're with good friends. :)

  6. What a fun day! I haven't been there in ages. And yes! No wonder you were tired, that is a TON of walking! :D Reminds me that I really need to do a day trip somewhere soon. I haven't been outside my city anywhere fun in a long while.

    1. You should do a trip, Kara! We're actually thinking of a beach trip sometime in July - you should join our merry party! :)

    2. Now that is an excellent idea! *earnestly starts planning* *disregards the fact that she is kind of inviting herself along with people who will probably think she's crazy* ;)

    3. LOL! Kara, I highly doubt that we will think you're crazy!! We're a unique bunch ourselves - several of us are Whovian, Primevalian, nerd-ish folk. :) I'll let you know when it gets on the calendar! :D

    1. Yay! I want to see pictures of your Tokyo adventures, Madison!

And yes, every time I see that 93 over there on the side, I honestly can't believe it. And thanks for sticking with me for so long, girlfriend! :)

    1. You probably would have enjoyed the day, too! But we're going to go again sometime, to a different, not-as-touristy area and be more "artsy" in our choice of locations. Perhaps some museums and such. :)

  11. I would never want to live in the city....but cities do have a beauty in themselves.... so much going on, the sites, the variation....so much too see.

    Looks like a great time!!!

    1. Spot on, Iris! The big cities are gorgeous, but not someplace that I would ever want to live! I'll take my small country town any day. :)

  12. How fun! I'm definitely not a big city girl, but I love playing tourist and having another excuse to take photos like a crazy woman (which is really just normal photo-taking for me, but that's another story). Anyway, I know that you don't share where you live, but do you live near SF? You can email me the response if you'd rather! :)

  13. I was just up in the city last month...passing through on our way to my cousin's graduation. Driving through the congested, narrow streets, with the slivers of bay views in between really made me wish we had had more time to explore. I really made a visit there, since I was seven, and somehow I miss it, even though a small town suits me just fine. ;) Lovely stills! Your city adventures sound grand! xx | grace

  14. Soooo you bought the bracelet... right? :)

    1. Actually...I didn't buy the bracelet. Perhaps I should have, just because I'll probably never get my named spelled right on something like that again. But I don't ever wear that style of bracelet and I wear purple and hot pink even less...so it wasn't that bracelet's lucky day for adoption. ;)
